Failing to acknowledge and appreciate people is a deadly mistake because of 3 reasons. First, you deprive yourself of the opportunity to experience a deep sense of fulfillment. Secondly, you deny yourself the pleasure of establishing a strong connection with someone. Thirdly, you chose to remain in the noise of your own head, remaining in a state of low energy and suffering. Why do we still not practice appreciation despite the fact that it requires so little effort?
Potentially, there are 4 Reasons for it:
1. Ego – We think we know, we think it is our right. We think we don’t need to.
2. Fear of Vulnerability – We are afraid if we express our appreciation we will show our emotions and feelings, which some individuals are not comfortable with.
3. Ignorance – We believe that we can survive alone in people, groups, and societies. We take people for granted until they are no longer there.
4. Lack of Skills: People don’t know how to appreciate in a way that is meaningful to the other person, leading to a reluctance to try.
What makes it more difficult to express appreciation openly and frequently is that it is often discouraged in the society and the environment we grew up in. And since we want to blend in, we choose to give in to our fears and ignorance, hence depriving ourselves and the people around us to experience true happiness.
My wish for you is to appreciate the goodness in people which will strengthen the goodness inside you. And my request is to tell positive stories and never deny yourself and the people around you the opportunity to be appreciated. You will feel great.
I really appreciate you taking the time to read this. Thank you! :)
